Carn Galver Mine  SW428-359

The name Carn Galver means rockpile at the lookout place. There is a small pumping and a whim engine house on the St Just - St Ives coastal road (B3306). The mine was worked until 1878. It was restored twenty ago by the National Trust.

This mine was never really productive and suffered from problems with drainage.

Giew Mine  SW5-1369

On the B3311 just outside Cripplease is a pumping engine house. It is in a good state of repair but does have the brick upper part of its stack missing. Its name may be a corruption of a Cornish word gew, meaning a hollow.

It is an old mine, opening in the mid nineteenth century and not closing until 1922.
