Perranuthnoe is a small and ancient village located on the coast between Marazion and Prussia Cove.

The main point of interest is the church, which dates largely from the 15th century.

Perranuthnoe was first recorded as a community in the Domesday Survey of 1086, although some evidence has been found to suggest that the area has been settled since the Bronze Age (2000 – 800 BC) and certainly during Roman times.

The village has mainly been agricultural with a little fishing and crabbing, but during the late 18th and 19th C, the parish played host to a dozen or more mines.

One of the most productive was Wheal Neptune, which had up to thirteen shafts operating at its peak producing mainly copper, but also some silver. The last mine closed in the early 1900’s.

Despite Perranuthnoe’s setting on Mounts Bay and its good sandy beach, the village has remained relatively undeveloped, with one pub, an art and craft centre and a small refreshment facility catering for beach goers.

A short way from the The Victoria Inn and the Lynfield Craft Centre is Perranuthnoe’s picturesque church. Dedicated to St.Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall, the church stands on the site of another much older church thought to date from around 1160. Lynfield Centre
