The roots of Prime
Skandal go back to 2002
where members from local bands Gordon
(Torn, Jack and Josh) and Orange Tee
(Marc) got together to play a few ska
tunes. After a small amount of
organisation, Tom was playing drums,
Marc guitar, Josh bass and Jack taking
the centre stage with vox and
sax.

They played at a party in April that
year but all was then quiet until we
found Mike, a top rapper, trumpeter
and pianist. The bands style was a
combination of ska funk and hip hop,
their new sound was unleashed to the
general public after Christmas playing
in the trolley park at
Iceland
,
Penzance
. In spring 2003 they established
themselves as a local band with a
short yet sweet set at Club 2000. This
was followed up gigs at the Acorn
theatre and the Bosuns.
A five-track e.p. was recorded in
summer 2003, which included local boy,
Kalim dropping in some samples and
scratching (now at d.j. college).
Playing all original material they had
their own style that has been
popular
with many ages as it covers more than
one genre. Recently Danny the bongo
man has joined adding a stronger
rhythm to the band that is now a 6
piece. They are always making up fresh
material and giving it 100% at gigs,
so come along for the
ride. |
