Museum of Submarine Telegraphy
Porthcurno has been a
telecommunications site
since the 1870s. It was once a key centre where many
of the first undersea cables came ashore and provided communications
for the British Empire. In World War II it was a secret communications

houses early telecoms equipment right up to that of modern digital.

At Porthcurno is the famous
Minack Theatre. Minack is Cornish,
meaning a rocky place. It is an open air theatre carved into a cliff
face, where plays have been held since 1932. Throughout the summer
each week a different play is held. These are wide ranging, including
such favourites as Shakespeare and Gilbert & Sullivan. There
is a visitor centre which is open outside the theatre season. Telephone

Geevor Tin
Mine Heritage Centre
Mining is
a notable part of Cornish
history and here is a museum which covers the practice and processing of mining,
Geevor Tin Mine Heritage Centre. Geevor is an ex working mine. It
is possible to tour old workings underground. It

The National Trust run a working mining steam engine about a
mile from Geevor at Trewellard 01736 786156.
This is the site of the infamous Levant Mining Disaster.

The Wayside Folk Museum
At Zennor is Cornwall's oldest private
museum, The Wayside Folk Museum 01736 796945. It has two working
mining waterwheels, cobbler's shop, wheelwrights and an
archaeological display of this area.

| Outside
the Folkside Museum can be seen the plague stone, marking
the boundary where those in the village were not allowed to pass
during the time of the black death.

This isolated lighthouse can be
visited. This part of the coastline is well

This is the most westerly point
of mainland UK. It is currently the most visited attraction in
Cornwall. Within the entertainment complex are many exhibitions
to visit, including the Last Labyrinth, Relentless Sea and Land of Greeb

Outside the complex, one must
not forget the natural beauty of this area, the rugged cliffs, sea views and the
