Ellaboration of poem PENZANCE Within the constraints of the letters in Penzance I have tried to convey the images of the town which make it home to me. P As you walk up Market Jew Street, the main street, there is always the pervasive and irresistible smell of pasties baking, seasoned with the smell of the fresh salt sea air, and people sitting near the statue of Sir Humphrey Davy , pasties in hand. E Penzance is set in beautiful Mount’s Bay where the colours in the sea and sky are frequently spectacular. The town overlooks the magical and mysterious St Michael’s Mount. Thousands of visitors come each year from home and abroad to the Mount , for the Golowan Spring Festival and to see the Christmas lights across the bay. |

Z Penzance is a place of retreat , a mecca for individualists and creative souls escaping from the pressures of bustling city and ‘up country’ life for a more relaxed life style. |

The town is also now an ‘alcohol free’ zone. |

C Cornwall is fine. The weather here in the South West peninsula is more mild than any where in the country.( One cannot say ‘in England’ without provoking the argument as to whether Cornwall is more a separate entity!) |

With ample sunshine and the bluest of blue skies, Penzance is a fine place to live and a fine place to spend your holidays. E Penzance is the end of the railway line and the furthest place west for train and coach services, a centre for tourists wanting to visit the Tate at St Ives, Lands End or the cliff top Minack Theatre. |
