Atmospheric,
instrumental music produced by Richard
Shiells and Grant Beardsley. Windswept
shores and curving sandy beaches with
surfers skimming down the avalanche
of a swelling wave... combined
with dark, edgy, gothic sounds. Richard
(Al) Shiells, a drummer, has played
with many different bands in the 70’s
and 80’s. Using more modern electronic
techniques he now puts tracks together
writing drums, bass-lines, guitar, piano
and synth parts, then mixes in vocals
and lead guitar. He has now produced
the CD 'Black Dove', with his partner
Bridgette, acting as co song writer,
some lyrics also from Glenn Wallis.
Has formerly collaborated with Glenn
Wallis on Konstruktivist albums - Dark
Odyssey, Back to Black, and other albums.
Glenn was involved with industrial
giants Throbbing Gristle in their early
days, and worked with Whitehouse with
Leftfield influences. Richard
also worked on more folk/rock projects
with 'Future Primitive' with Grant Beardsley
(electric guitar), Toby Moyle (vocals
and bass guitar) and Frances Shelley
(vocals and keyboards). Future
Primitive released two albums in the
90’s, Primitive Future and Medicine
Wheel, the latter featuring Frances
Shelley on Storm Crow. The 'Black
Dove' track features on 'Offbeat Optimism'
album of electronic music by Konstruktivists.
Andromeda
is a fusion of all these influences
and personalities, dark Celtic gothic
landscapes fusing/evolving into bursts
of searing west coast surfing music
(Sennen Surfing Song). Grant’s
crystal guitar dipping from searing
expressive chords to light pulsing rock
combined with Richard syhns to create
a unique blend of sound.
The
most recent project, the ‘Black Dove’
album was inspired by the haunting romantic
gothic stories written by Bridgette
Cassese. The central story
BLACK DOVE is a gothic romance set in
Sennen. Waves crashing on the
shore, sun drenched beaches and surfers
cruising over waves provided some of
the inspiration for this new collection
of music. Shades of darkness and
light interwoven with powerful dark,
edgy chord sequences.
